Infocus ... card processing

The FPB is working with Accept Cards to help members find the best prices for processing cards payments

In today’s increasingly cashless society you can lose customers if you aren’t able to take payments by credit and debit card. But accepting card payments is a major expense for the businesses. Now, the FPB and Accept Cards Ltd can offer members discounted rates for taking card payments. Accept Cards has years of experience in the card payments industry and independent relationships with the UK’s acquiring banks, giving it access to the lowest processing rates.

The future is plastic

Spending on plastic cards increased to £360bn in 2008 with over 65% of retail transactions completed by card. Individuals hold an average of four plastic cards each. The ability to accept payment in-store, over the phone, by post and via the internet allows your customers to choose how they purchase from you.

Through Accept Cards, you can accept all major credit and debit cards and, if your customer base requires it, American Express and Diners Club cards. This flexibility enables you to offer greater choice to customers, grow your business and improve your cash flow.

Many members have already improved their existing terms or lowered set up costs. Maria Thrall of www.cherishbabyonline.co.uk is a new FPB member who has been delighted with the new service. “Accept Cards dealt with our enquiry efficiently and within a couple of weeks I received our payment terminal for the shop, along with the ability to accept payments through our new website”, says Mrs Thrall. “The set-up costs and pricing were far lower than I had been offered by my own bank.”

·         FPB members who are already accepting cards make an average saving of 30% on existing processing costs, with no joining fees (typically £150 to £200) for switching acquiring bank.

·         Members who are new to cards make an average saving of £465

·         Low rates for ‘card holder not present’ transactions

·         Options available with a nil minimum monthly service charge

·         Independent advice on card processing (store and e-commerce) and choice of processing banks

·         Choice of terminals (Static, portable, fully mobile) with flexible rental terms
